In my consultations, I strive to create an environment that is inclusive, affirming, and collaborative, which helps clients feel more comfortable and open to learning. To accomplish this, I begin by acknowledging the client's strengths and achievements, and emphasizing the value of their time. This motion of trust is critical to developing a productive and mutually beneficial consultation, and it also creates a safe space for learning!
My ultimate goal as a consultant is to help clients feel empowered and confident in their writing. I find it incredibly rewarding when I see the positive impact that our collaborative sessions have on clients' writing skills and confidence. Many of my clients have returned for multiple consultations, and I attribute this to our teamwork, positive affirmations, and honest feedback. I look forward to continuing to help clients evolve and grow as writers.
Consulting Philosophy
TRANSPARENCY
To describe myself, I use the term "transformable leader." This means that I prioritize vulnerability and transparency to help my clients grow, while also growing alongside them. I firmly believe that as a consultant, being transparent and vulnerable with my clients is essential in building trust and fostering a productive relationship. Given that I am a student myself—who faces similar struggles as my clients—establishing this trust is a critical aspect of the consulting process. In addition, I make it a point to be transparent with my clients whenever I am unsure about a topic or question they bring up. Rather than pretending to know everything, I encourage us to look up the information together to ensure we both learn and grow through the session. By prioritizing transparency, vulnerability, and growth, I strive to be the best possible consultant for my clients.
EVOLUTION
As a former client of the Miller Writing Center, I understand the importance of building a strong rapport with clients. I always make an effort to connect with each client and create a comfortable environment that fosters trust and confidence. Through this approach, I have developed relationships with many returning clients and witnessed their growth over time, to the point where they no longer need appointments. Moreover, what I value most about my work at the center is the opportunity to learn alongside my clients, both new and returning. Our shared process of growth and evolution, grounded in transparency and authenticity, creates a genuine connection between consultant and client. This approach benefits everyone involved and I am committed to continuing this mindset during my time at the Miller Writing Center.
