My Time as Lead Consultant

As a Lead Consultant, I hold a pivotal role in coordinating and overseeing a circle of consultants within our professional development program. At the beginning of each semester, consultants are assigned to small groups (circles) based on their availability. I was in charge of facilitating Circle 2 and Circle 5 at the Miller Writing Center which included both new consultants and returning consultants!

Creative Consulting:

As Lead Consultant, I created the "Creative Consulting" session which was a part of the Fall 2023 Professional Development for the MWC. We explored innovative ways to assist clients facing challenges in understanding prompts or expressing creativity. The session included discussions on creative ideas, practical approaches, and crafting unique exercises, culminating in consultants creating their own tools for client support, and contributing to a creative consulting environment. You can access the lesson plan I created for this meeting here.

Circle 2:

Within these meetings—or circles—our primary focus is to create a space for meaningful connections and the exchange of ideas, concerns, and support. We also engage with our professional development curriculum during our hour-long meetings. The structure of each session is carefully designed, starting with time for administrative matters like shift coverage requests, followed by informal discussions to catch up and share insights. A significant portion of our meetings is dedicated to collaborative work on the professional development curriculum, encompassing readings, scenarios, and shared resources.

CIRCLE 2

"Lexi made sure to not only listen but truly hear our perspectives and make us feel included in and out of meetings... [she] provided a warm and welcoming environment each and every circle. She is a light to work with!"
